Good Homemade Body and face Scrub | DIY

Hello Pom-Poms!
Smooth and silky skin is everyone’s dream but how to achieve it throughout the year is a big mystery, my suggestion to it would be - HYDRATION, DIET and BODY CARE.  Though following it all is not as easy as it sounds so the solution to it is scrubbing the body with essential oils and all things good that suits you. There are many scrub recipes available online but I will be mentioning 2 which require minimum ingredients and give maximum benefit.

Why Exfoliate:
Scrubbing or exfoliation removes the dead skin cells and nourishes the body by opening pores to let it breathe. The whole beauty industry is thriving on it, in market many scrubs are available with various fragrances and ingredients.

My Experience:
I have combination skin type like my facial skin is oily but feels very dry specially if I don’t apply anything on my face for long and my body is dry as dessert, if I don’t apply any oil or lotion, fine lines and scales are clearly visible. I have been reading and hearing a lot about exfoliation and how it keeps the skin healthy looking. I have tried this scrub once a week this winter season and it has helped me tons. This scrub is so simple and easy to make that I am going to continue it in summers too.

Body Scrub Recipe:

·         2-3 tablespoon of Salt

·         1-2 tablespoon Coconut Oil (sufficient enough to make a thick paste)

·         2-3 drops of Tea Tree or Rosemary Essential Oil

How to use it – Mix all the ingredients in bowl with the help of spoon, store the scrub in jar(in case you plan to make a huge batch). Right after you take bath, pat dry your body and gently massage the scrub in circular motion. Don’t be harsh with your motions and focus on the drier areas like elbow and knee, your body will soak the oil and salt will scrub the dead skin cells away. Once you are done wash with luke warm water again and don’t use soap.

Face Scrub Recipe:
·         1-2 tablespoon of fine Granulated Sugar

·         1 tablespoon of Lemon Juice

·         ½ tablespoon of Honey

·         ½ Teaspoon Coconut Milk

·         Pinch of Turmeric

How to use it - Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, right before you are going to use it. Apply it on face for 2-3 minutes then gently scrub in circular motion. You can avoid honey, if it doesn’t suit you. If you have acne prone skin or having breakouts, this scrub will help you great deal as turmeric has anti-bacterial property (I would suggest buy it as a whole and not powdered).Wash face with normal water and pat it dry, avoid using any lotion or cream for hours or two.

*Turmeric might leave a yellow tint but it definitely fades away.

Give these scrubs couple of tries to work their magic on the skin. They are surely going to leave your skin glowing and healthy looking.

  1. Thanks for sharing πŸ‘ i ll try these tips for sure.

  2. Exfoliating has helped my skin immensely! It's one great addition to anyone's skin care routine and am happy you got positive results from it, too. This scrub recipe sounds promising and am definitely going to five it a try, especially since you've made it clear that the turmeric's yellow-ness won't stick around long--because that's a reason I usually avoid turmeric in the homemade scrubs. Great post! :D

    1. These scrubs are really helpful and initially, I was sceptical about the turmeric too but tried once or twice and since then I am sticking with it as its really helpful in healing acne and black spots.
