10 travelling essentials

Hello Pom-Poms!

As my blog suggests, I TRAVEL… So, how can I not mention to you guys what are my travelling essential for any trip. I have to have these items with me and they are not some sunscreen type essentials which is necessary too (by the way) but this list is more about the things which are emergency requirements or one tends to forget easily but are really helpful in times of need.

Travelling Essentials

I am taking into consideration that you can be a tourist or a backpacker; both have totally different set of requirements in terms of their trip but these 10 essentials come handy for both of you travelling souls.

TORCH:
Stranded in some strange place at night with no lights, not a pretty picture…So, this is a must have and you may think that I am going to stay in a hotel and not some forest then shall I tell my incident about a night in luxurious hotel in Patnitop, we were without lights even in the rooms as after the 1st night inverted backup was shut and there was no current in the mountains for whole 2 days of our stay. Pack it up either ways as it won’t take much of your bag space.

CAMERA:
In this digital age, it’s useless to mention this one buddy, I know but I could not, not mention it. You may not forget to pack it in your luggage but you may forget to take it with you on your outing only to get reminded when you wish to take videos or photos.Yeah! This happened with us once. So whenever you are going out and about on sight-seeing remember to get your camera.

BACKPACK:
You don’t take this one lightly either…a backpack can make or break your experience. I have been more of a tourist to places but I still prefer my backpack to a trolley as whenever in bus or trains, it’s much easy to carry around plus every individual is responsible for their own packs. It’s easy to move and go places with your luggage on your shoulders than to carry them un-comfortably in hands or drag them on high mountains (just to give you mild picture).
I myself am planning to buy a new-one as so far I have been using my laptop-backpack(which is giant and spacious) as my travel go to. Buy with me  :

 SHOES:
Again not goofing with this one, feet comfort is priority while you are travelling so invest in quality sport shoes. Wherever you go, it’s not always that you travel by cars and vehicle…you gotta walk and sometimes a lot hence to save your feet from dying by the end of the day, buy something which comforts not strangle them.
Hygiene Kit:

There are rules to everything and with public transports rule is wash your hands before eating as you never know what germs you carry with yourself by touching places. Your outer body can adapt but your insides might not digest the germs. Keep your hygiene kit handy always, what to keep in it has to comply of soap, hand wash, sanitizer, small comb, shampoo, tooth brush, paste and lotion (buy the small handy bottles).

Medicine:
New place, new food, new atmosphere, new climate, unhygienic places can make your body flip, keep some general medicine apart from your necessary ones(in case you are diabetic or on other prescribed medication).
Medicine for dysentery, fever, cold, digestives, glucose/ORS, sprain ointment, allergy related pills…these are what I keep in mine and they have treated me time and again on my trip.

Water/Snacks:
At all times keep your water bottle filled and something to munch on like chickpeas or peanuts which give you strength too. Rest what to fill in your kitty is up to you, what you wish to eat but make sure of the essentials first.
Mosquito Repellent:
Travelling won’t be fun if you are bugged by bugs on the long walk down the beach or mountains, keep this travelling essential in your backpack and you are sorted. With increasing fatal diseases due to mosquito bites, you don’t wanna  get bitten by one on your trip to place of your dream.
Power bank/backup:
Power source to make sure your cell-phone and camera batteries are charged at all time is also a good idea. While on vacation, some part of you still feels safe to be connected to your family and sometimes you might not have electricity so have power backup and be assured.

ACTIVEWEAR-Comfortable:

Do look out for the weather of the area you are visiting, mountains or plains, hot or cold, sunny or cloudy and pack your clothes accordingly. Whenever planning a trip to snow mountains, do keep a warm pullover in whatever month you are visiting as climate shifts rapidly in such areas.

As you might know, I recently have been to Manali in the month of September and it was supposed to be humid there(according to weather apps...FYI don't trust them always) so I didn’t pack any warm clothing…(last moment ‘why to carry extra luggage’ thought) but was I ready for the surprise of chilled breeze touching my face and making my cheeks turned red aka pale. I couldn’t handle it and ran up to the closest market for Jackets and bought myself a trendy one ;) but imagine you are in some place where amenities are not readily available then not to pass out in cold weather keep it (that jacket/cardigan of yours). Same goes for rainy and plain terrains, get your homework done.

I would have suggested mini tool kit too but it might not be travel friendly for airport and railways in some places but if you are planning a local trekking and journey by bus, do carry a small tool kit/item with you...its handy at times. :)

Another travel essential tip from me to you would be TRAVEL LIGHT, plan yours clothes in advance and take out as much as possible. Pack yourself some must haves and rest use the mis & match philosophy, it helps you reduce the luggage and make some trendy choices for your traveling affair.
